At Little Munden Equestrian, we treasure the fact that we are surrounded by stunning, peaceful countryside, with a wide range of wildlife that lives and thrives side by side with us.
By running our livery yard with environmental sustainability in mind, we aim to minimize our carbon footprint and endeavour to make a positive impact on our corner of the world.

Bio-diversity Land Management - trees, bees and horses.
The Munden Estate has a long-established history of environmental land management, with an emphasis on conservation and the protection of flora and fauna.
These include the ongoing care of the Bricket Wood Common and ancient woodland that surrounds it, which is recognised as a location of Special Scientific Interest. Also, the growing of willow trees along the riverbanks assist in creating natural stability to the river edge and shade for the river’s inhabitants to thrive in.
The growing of bio-diverse crops helps to establish essential micronutrients into the soil, as well as giving a wonderful array of flowers for the bees.
Our rotational grazing programme ensures we provide excellent grazing for the horses, whilst encouraging native vegetation, reducing soil erosion and providing excellent habitat for wildlife.

One man’s muck; really is another man’s gold!
Our horses are bedded on 100% sustainable, fully biodegradable by-products from UK based farming industries.  Using these bedding types, help us to support other UK businesses, reducing transport miles and result in zero-waste both before and after we use it!
Bedding mixed with horse manure, turns in to exceptionally high-quality compost containing high levels of essential macro and micronutrients. We are proud to say that many local allotment groups, local gardeners and even a well-known International Garden Designer, come to collect from our muck heap. If you have been to Chelsea or Hampton Court Flower Show, you will have seen stunning flowers grown from our muck!
The surface of our indoor school is made from the material off cuts from the seats of Jaguar car manufacturing, giving a super surface to ride on, plus offsetting carbon footprint by green circular economy.

We do not inherit the earth from those that came before us.

We only borrow it from those who come after us.

The future lies before us, like freshly fallen snow.

Be thoughtful of each step you take, as every step will show
